Experis
Data Centers (EDC) has signed a strategic lease agreement
with AT&T Corporation (AT&T) for approximately 35%
of the floor space in its Middletown, Virginia data center.
AT&T will operate its WorldNet system out of the Middletown
facility for proprietary federal government customers from
the newly created EDC disaster recovery and business continuity
Information Technology (IT) platform.
Experis Data Centers will be completing a series of mechanical,
electrical, and plumbing (MEP) upgrades to this facility through
2008.
In
addition to AT&T, EDC will be leasing raised floor space,
upgraded MEP systems, and IT services and solutions on a fully
redundant, carrier-neutral basis to a multitude of enterprise
and federal clients from the Washington D.C. market at very
competitive prices. The diverse and robust electrical infrastructure
at this EDC property is provided by Alleghany Power; independent
of the Washington D.C.
service grids. This particular 81,411 square foot data center
has operated without interruption for over thirty-five years.
Experis
Data Centers (EDC) has signed a strategic partnership agreement
with SGI-Technology Group (SGI) to apply a polymer blast and
fire protection technology to its EDC Middletown, Virginia
data center. SGI is a marketing and distribution company holding
the world-wide, exclusive rights to sell proprietary polymers
for blast mitigation and fire retardation, as well as for
radio frequency (RF) shielding in the development and retrofitting
of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) for
classified operations by the Federal Government.
SGI participated in a UL-Like Testing of Commercial Off-the-Shelf
(COTS) Products that enhance the Blast and Ballistic Resistance
of Structures Test conducted by the Energetic Materials Research
and Test Center (EMRTC) of New Mexico and by the Combating
Terrorist Technical Support Office of the Technical Support
Working Group (TSWG) of the Department of Defense, U.S. Federal
Government. SGI used a spray-on polymer application called
Citadel to a typical Cinder Block (CMU) wall construction
at a distance of 33 feet (10 meters) from a 220-pound TNT
bomb detonated by C4 explosives.
Experis Data Centers will feature the Citadel polymer blast
and fire application to its Middletown, Virginia data center
in May of 2008 and to its pending disaster recovery data center
acquisitions in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2008. Information
about the Citadel polymer application or specifics of the
test results, classified reports, and video recordings from
the EMRTC report are available upon request.
